Guitar Setup Course Has Been Updated: See Details

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

The very popular Guitar Setup Basics Course that I provide to area guitarists has just been updated.!! The content is still the same but now you also recieve included in the price of the course your very own set up tools.  These tools are the Cruz Tools brand Guitar Tech Guitar Player Setup tool package that not only has most of tools you will require for proper setups and string changes, but it is housed in a very nice, convenient, clear front zip up pouch.   This is perfect for bench top or taking along to the gig for those spot, emergency string changes.

Strap Lock Update: Its a Grolsh Bottle!

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

If you have read my recent post on an inexpensive(ie, really cheap) way to create your own strap locks with your stock strap buttons, then you will be pleased with this short update.  I wasnt really happy with the ones i had bought from the local hardware store, so I went to the music store that had been selling the pink washers.(see last post pics).

They were of course out of this item, but the store owner then confided in me that these were actually the rubber stoppers that you find on your standard Grolsh Beer bottle.  So he said in a pinch I could go buy a 6-pack of Grolsh, and not only get the rubber stoppers I needed as strap locks but also enjoy a cold one on the back patio while strumming my favorite guitar.  Awesome!!

So now you know.

Europe Vacation, Keith Richards: Life, and Much More

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

Well, I am back from my incredible three week vacation to Europe with my lovely cohort.  Spent some time in London, capital of the British Invasion and home to many incredible bands.  Didn’t get a chance to hear any music in particular but I did have some authentic Fish&Chips and thoroughly enjoyed the city.  Can’t wait to get back.   We also had a chance to visit Paris(also incredible), see friends in Switzerland(Rhone Valley, lots of wine tasting),  buzz through Baveria and Munich, and ended our trip in Denmark.  It was quite an experience to spend the longest day of the year in the tiny northern Danish town of Loggen.  Although it finally did get relatively dark around midnight, you could see faint light all night in the northern sky, and the night sky had this psychadelic dark blue tint to it.   Will try to put up some pics soon of the trip.

I did pick up a copy of the recent Keith Richards autobiography, LIFE, in the spirit of London inspired music. Started reading it on the plane, really good so far.  A must read if you are a stones fan or even just a fan of that era of music.

And so, summer is officially here, and hopefully I get a chance to post some of the recent guitar building projects I have been working on, more of my guitar collection, and also updates on a two man band I have been rehearsing with.

Musicians Swap Meet Coming Up – March 20th Sunday

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Although its been a while since I have had a booth at this event,  I still love to attend this show.   Last one was on same day as Super Bowl, but no excuses this time.   You have to  check it out!  Its  just a great place to  find some off the wall and vintage used music gear, enjoy searching for that used effects pedal you always wanted, or just enjoy a brat, sauerkraut and a beer while walking around.  I got an incredible pedal board case there last time for my brother.  Its held at the Old World Village, a german style beer hall that rocks during the Oktoberfest season.

“And now for something completely off the wall Bullwinkle”

Since we were sharing some family videos on the last blog, I couldnt resist adding this one, which features my dad Professor Adams, and my little brother Nathan Adams.  Yea, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with music, guitars, chicks, rock n’ roll, coolness or even football. I realize that, but come on people,  expand your mind.

Life is not all about pentatonic scales, humbucker pickups, and guitar gear.  There are alot of engineering nerds out there. Imagine if you could write a song that spoke to them. You could make….millions.  mwahahaha.

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year and much happiness for 2011. Its been a wonderful holiday season for us here at the repair shop: lots of guests from out of town, great food and drink, and working on some fun building projects.  I am trying to finish up my build of a Les Paul Special, and I started working on a tenor ukulele over the holiday break.

I know the blog hasnt had many entries this month but hopefully I will be getting some pictures up here of the two builds mentioned above along with a phase pedal kit that I build recently and other mayhem in the shop.    I’ll also hopefully be writing about more updates of a music nature, including a possible new album I will be involved with by a band of ours back in Ohio.

Well,  look forward to hitting the new year running and hope to hear from you all soon for your guitar repair needs.

Black Crowes in December, YES!!

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

Finally scored tix to see Black Crowes again here in LA, December 4th at Hollywood Paladium. Been way too long since I saw them last.  Their past two albums have just rocked!

The tour is supposed to be about an hour and half of acoustic following by another hour and a half of full band, to celebrate being together for 20 years.  Should be awesome, hope to see you there.
